Yelp- Uconnect System

It’s Tech Tuesday which means we are going to share another cool tech Tuesday Tip brought to you by Jessica! The new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep & Ram vehicles have an awesome media center called Uconnect. These systems are capable of doing a lot of really cool things, one of the features I’m going to talk about today is the Yelp app. Imagine yourself in a new city (on business perhaps?) and you want to find a really good Mexican restaurant but you aren’t sure where to start. With the Uconnect system all you have to do is select Apps then Yelp. It will give you several different categories, or you search for something more specific. Of course, restaurants aren’t the only thing you can search for. Nightlight, entertainment, coffee shops, gas stations etc etc. Yelp also has some really good reviews so you can find the highest rated businesses right at your fingertips. Isn’t that convenient? The Uconnect system is only available in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles. There are several different types of systems and features for each vehicle. Amazing Barn Finds-True Antiques!!

So you all have heard of people find amazing things in barns. Some truely unbelievable and unique! Well, I’m gonna share with you about an incredible one, really hard to believe! Some back ground first though! Back in 1940 before Pearl Harbor and the war, the car of its time the Dodge D-14 Deluxe four-door sedan was made. 84 thousand were produced by some of the hardest working people at the time! This particular one was purchased by a vet who went to every house call in it, around WWII. It even has his 1944 permit in the window! In 1948, the doctor passed away and his sweet car was put on blocks and covered with a sheet. Not sold, it sat there for more than 50 years! In 2003, the sheet were removed by the new owner, who drove the car to South Carolina. It was 73 years old and only had 42k miles on it. The body was rust free and in perfect condition, allowing him to experience a brand new car from 1940! Truely remarkable! Here are some pictures!

Parents Guide To Buying Your 16 Old A New Car!!

So parents, your child is turning 16 and you want to buy them a car! First off, you are already going to be the coolest parent ever! Secondly, you will be even cooler if you get them the latest technology to show off to their friends, but you wanna keep it affordable! Here are a few tips to help you out! Remember, insurance is going to be high anyway.. So you definitey wanna make sure its a used car, which will help keep the cost of the insurance down! You DONT want to make it too old, because the older they are, the less they offer. These days its all about the iPhones and music! You wanna pick something that can play that music, so go with an aux port or usb port  and/or bluetooth streaming audio. Bluetooth is a little safer, because it allows for your child to change the music without having to look at their phone while driving! Mileage will help, you dont want to get one with to many, running the chance of the car wearing down before you’ve had your moneys worth, so probably around 60k or so is good! Timing Belt

Well it’s time for another tech tip, and our very own ASE Certified Tech Expert, Randall Gann, talks about the importance of timing belt replacement in this week’s Tech Tips. Timing belts have replaced timing chains in today’s newer engines. The purpose of a timing belt is to provide a connection between the crankshaft and camshaft to ensure the proper sequence of the piston to valve timing. Engines with timing belts can be broken into two categories: interference and non-interference engines. The lack of maintenance on interference engines with timing belts could be very costly. A typical repair could run $1500 or more. Therefore, proper maintenance should be performed as outlined by the maintenance schedule. On non-interference engines, the engine will stop running and require a tow to the shop. Proper maintenance requires timely belt replacement at regular intervals.
