Buying a family friendly vehicle!

So, often times people come into a car dealership to look for a “family friendly” vehicle, but aren’t quite sure what they are are looking for! Here are a few tips when searching for the perticular type! A favorite option for many is the Dodge Durango (2011-present). Front angled View Offering heated seats, rear entertainment (not on all packages), third row seating and more!  For an SUV, they get decent gas mileage! They offer plenty of storage space, if you dont need that third row, plus they have the convenient roof rack! Another option would be the Dodge Grand Caravan! Front angled View! Also offering the third row, this newly designed mini-van offers more than just that! Stow N’ Go allows the seats to fold down completely flat, as if they were never there for extra cargo room when needed! Most come with a roof rack as well! Added safety with airbags for every passenger and more! So if you are in the marke for a vehicle of this nature, stop in at Woodys Automotive Group. We have many to choose from and we know we will find you the right one! For hours and directions click here!

Dodge Durango! Citadel or R/T?

Front angled View
front angled view
So Dodge made the perfect SUV when creating the Dodge Durango. With many editions which is the best? Im going to compare the R/T and Citadel! So, with an MSRP difference of 2k dollars, which is the better deal? The R/T has a 5.7 V8 Hemi engine while the Citadel has a 3.6 V6 engine! The R/T’s towing compacity is a little over one thousand pounds more than that of the Citadel. To counter balance that, the Citadel does get better gas mileage than the R/T. Both Suvs have leather trimmed seats, however the Citadel has a high quality of leather! Both are heated front and second row seats! The Citadel also has ventilated seats for the summer! Huge plus in my opinion. Leather seats can be the worst in summer.. Both have the 8.4″ touchscreen UConnect Media center! Only difference is, Citadel comes standard with Navigation!

2014 RAM 1500 LARAMIE CREW CAB-Safety

Many people buy trucks because they are heavy duty, bigger, safer and many other reasons. Well, Ram has gone above and beyond the normal safety brinks and put in more! Front tow hooks, which are normally used for towing, obviously, fold under frontal impact and “rinkle” allowing for more force to be absorbed by the truck rather than person. The hooks are attached to the steel frame of the truck allowing for more support. Airbags are also a plus. So you have the normal driver and passenger front airbags, but also airbags on the side of the seats! Even more, the doors have a window airbag. Allowing safety from all directions in this 2014 Ram 1500! If this safety sounds award winning to you, then check it out here at Woody’s Automotive Group! For hour and directions click here! 2013 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL- Auto Dimming Mirrors

Many carsExterior Angled View come with a very cool safety feature that sometimes gets over looked. Literally, we look at it every day and 95% of the time don’t know its there! Auto-dimming mirrors -electrochromatic!

So I’m going to give a little back ground, then explain why this is a good feature to have. Driving during a dark, eerie night, on a road with no natural or man-made lighting may be fun, as long as you and your car are the only ones on that road. When an incoming vehicle approaches, its headlights turn into your eyes’ worst enemy. When it comes from the front, for brief second, everything turns black. When it comes from the rear, your vision retracts, desperately trying to battle the glare of the other vehicle’s headlights. Dimming mirrors are intended to counteract the Troxler Fading Effect. This phenomenon occurs when you try to focus your vision to a single point in space for more than 20 seconds. This will make a stimulus outside the range of sight fade away. Check out this diagram for instance.

Troxler Diagram
According to studies conducted to reveal glare effects on the eyes of the drivers, the Troxler effect increases driver reaction time by up to 1.4 seconds. This means that when traveling at 60 mph, it would take the driver 123 feet to see and react to road hazards. Dimming mirrors used in the automotive industry are fitted with sensors to detect the intensity of the light. Usually, there are two sensors, one pointed at the front and the other at the rear. The interior mirror’s sensors and electronics control the dimming of both interior and exterior mirrors. When they detect a change in light intensity, they trigger an electrical charge ,applied to the glass through a low-voltage power supply. The electricity travels through an electrochromic gel in between the two electrically conductive coated pieces of glass which make up the mirror. As a result, the mirror darkens accordinly to the light detected by the sensors. Since these are automatic, the drivers hand never has to leave the steering wheel! If this features sounds good to you check out the inventory at Woody’s Automotive Group! We have hundreds of cars with this feature!! For our hours and directions click here!

2013 DODGE DURANGO CREW- Stability Control- Safety

TCS Button ShotSome cool technology has come out recently and is becoming more standard in many cars and SUV’s. Electronic Stability Control (ESC). This safety features like I said comes standard with many vehicles now! Usually cars have traction control (TCS) and anti-lock brake system (ABS). However, in order to have ESC, the vehicle must have ABS and TCS. ESC and TCS are built on the Anti-lock Brake System, and all three use the same wheel sensors. In addition to the basic wheel sensors, electronic stability control systems typically require a yaw rate sensor, lateral acceleration sensor, and some method to detect the

movement of the steering wheel. Traction control, which is almost self-explanatory, monitors the traction on the drive train tires. So if you have front wheel drive, the sensors monitor and if the tires start to slip, it lowers the power delivered to help counter-act the loss of traction. Like anti-lock brakes and traction control, electronic stability control is an added safety measure. Electronic stability control systems consist of a number of sensors that compare a driver’s input with the way a vehicle is actually moving. If an ESC system determines that a vehicle is not responding correctly to the steering input, it is capable of taking corrective measures. Individual brake calipers can be activated to correct oversteer or understeer, the engine output can be modulated, and other actions can be taken to help the driver retain control. These systems won’t protect you from careless driving, but they can help keep you on the road under adverse conditions. According to the IIHS, electronic stability control reduces the risk of multiple car, single car, and rollover accidents. The reduction in fatal single vehicle rollovers is the most dramatic, and drivers with ESC are 75 percent more likely to survive those accidents than drivers who don’t have ESC. Another reason to care about ESC is the fact that it may be able to save you money on your insurance premiums. If any of this sounds like a feature you want/need then check out Woody’s Automotive Group in Chillicothe, MO, we have plenty of cars, like this 2013 Dodge Durango Crew for instance, with this safety feature!!
